The Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester
Established to develop the cultural and social ties between the Muslim and Jewish communities of Greater Manchester
30 August 2015
On Sunday 30th August, we held our 9th annual picnic in St. Mary's Park, Prestwich. Over twenty people spread across the generations attended the picnic as several mothers and their daughters joined in the fun.
The food provided by the participants themselves was plentiful and varied. As well as the usual sandwiches, fishballs, pitta bread and salads one member brought along a very large bowl of her delicious home made Iraqi rice dish which had been slow cooked for four hours. The Manchester weather was kind as well as the rained actually stayed away all afternoon !
Ann Audin, a former Bury Councillor and regular attendee to Forum events stated "It is nice to meet people from different faiths and cultures. I enjoy the picnic events and sharing the food."
Tahara Amin, Company Secretary of the Forum stated "Building relationships between different communities does not have to be hard. Our annual picnic is easy to organise and informal to attend. Every year we welcome new people attending their first event with people from the other community."
Below is a photo of some of the attenders.
