The Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester
Established to develop the cultural and social ties between the Muslim and Jewish communities of Greater Manchester
29 November 2011
We held our sixth AGM at Manchester Town Hall on 29 November 2011.
Co-Chair, Jonny Wineberg read out a list of our events from the past year which included details about the event held at the Jewish Museum, "70 Righteous Muslims who saved Jews in the 2nd World War", the annual Womens' Day event, the two Inter-Faith Picnics and the Eid/Post Yom Kippur party held in partnership with F4C at the Mere Golf Club.
The Treasurer, Mohammed Amin led the meeting through the accounts which were approved by those present.
In the coming year, we plan another Womens' Day event, a Lawyers and Accountants' event, at least two more Business Networking events. We will also host members of the Paris Muslim Jewish Forum, called Shalom Paix Salem, for a long weekend in Manchester in June 2012 and hope to have a return weekend in Paris later in the year.
A new Executive committee was elected to serve for the coming year including two new members, namely Sarah Kemp and Yasmin Bukhari.
Cllr Afzal Khan stated "It is great to see the Muslim Jewish Forum, now in it's seventh year going from strength to strength. We are increasing our membership and doing more activities together. This has helped us to strengthen the relationship between our two communities further"
